The Brief
We had previously been responsible for hiring a Product Development Director for a division of this publisher, and when the role of Managing Editor of one of their most prestigious title became vacant we were asked to pitch for the work.  The brief was to find an accountancy trained individual with specific editorial and publishing skills.  The most likely source for this type of individual would be found in another publishing group and we recommended that we undertake a full and detailed search.

Our Approach
The lead consultant involved in this project was Andrew Fisher.
The initial research led us to identify all the financial controllers and managing editors within the target UK consumer and business publications market.  We also helped develop a detailed job and person specification and candidate briefing document.  The ‘long list’ was agreed with the Editor and we then approached and met a number of targeted individuals.
A final short list of six were presented and the chosen candidate returned for a final meeting before the appointment was agreed.

The Result
The individual appointed has made a significant contribution and has since been promoted into a wider group based role.
